I got on it a few times when it first got big. It was a pretty cool idea but not really my thing. My son actually made some long term friends through it. I’m sorry to see it go. Chatroulette is already a thing. Likewise, the Happy Pi Day Spiral Pi Math Teacher 3.14 Leopard Rainbow T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this other apps could have copied Omegle anytime they wanted to already. lots of those creators bounce between omegle and ome tv, I’m sure they’ll find a way. Back to cod lobbies if they have to lol. I’m surprised that Omegle couldn’t be sold to one of the big players. I do not want to see more enshittification of the internet but I’d also be pretty happy for the founder to sell Omegle and sail off into retirement. I’m not. The random chat/video has always been a controversial social media field. Omegle wasn’t the first, chat roulette also existed, and there are others out there today, they just all tend to fall to the same problems omegle did which is that horny pedos see those platforms as an easy way to meet children with little supervision given the anonymity of it all. By the time I was on it, it was pretty much all old men wanting to wank off in front of minors. Me and my friend thought we were being edgy pretending to be sisters and messing with people, but we were clearly exactly who these pedos were hoping to find on these sites. I’m surprised it lasted this long before being shut down! This was a day 1 problem. Back in 2009/2010, I was there goofing off with silly hats and weird questions, and it was at least 1 dick every 6 matches. I remember a buddy of mine talking about how cool the platform was going to be when it was announced back in the day. I responded “I give it about 3 days before it’s full of dicks and pedos”.

I don’t know if I was right or wrong about 3 days, but this was always going to be the Happy Pi Day Spiral Pi Math Teacher 3.14 Leopard Rainbow T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this outcome. Anyone affiliated with any company that does such a thing saying that they are shocked are lying liars. Being blind to worse case scenarios and thinking the best outsome will be the average user case is a known issue for buisinesses. Example : the OceanGate CEO who died in his own submersible after ignoring warnings and firing the safety engineer. In my experience people aren’t just idiots. They are willful idiots. Often time they will be told by someone exactly what is going to happen if they pursue a certain project or a certain course of action. Often times they actively sideline those voices and promote yes men around them, then act surprised when things go sideways.
