The spirit is one of the Happy Father’s Day To My Very Special Dad With All My Love Shirt but in fact I love this oldest in the world and has been unifying the country since as early as the 16th century. “One of the main things that attracted us to cachaça and to working with such a traditional Brazilian spirit is the fact that it is a conduit of connection for diversity and community,” Junqueira says. With that, the friends wanted to create a brand of cachaça that was sourced from various regions of Brazil, each representing its own culture and traditions.

In early 2019, Junqueira and Walker visited multiple cachaça distilleries, both big and small, industrial and family-run, until one promising master distiller expressed an interest in collaborating on the Happy Father’s Day To My Very Special Dad With All My Love Shirt but in fact I love this project exactly how they envisioned it. Whereas many liquor brands manufacture in factories, Cãna does so in a family-owned distillery in the hills outside of Rio, called Fazenda Soledade, a place that has been producing cachaça since 1977. The farm also has a nature reserve, protecting the surrounding region’s biodiversity. At Fazenda Soledade, Cãna integrates the use of new technologies to create its cachaça in order to achieve a high quality spirit, while still preserving the traditional techniques of artisanal production in order to protect the environment.
