It is, but while visiting Puerto Rico a TON of people viewed Puerto Rico as their country and spoke of it that way, and had talked about US tourists like any other place would. Makes the Grupo Bronco Tesoros de Colección Vol 4 album 2013 T-Shirt in other words I will buy this concept you noted way less outlandish even if technically wrong. It’s not a case of “PR is ostracized from the U.S. because it is insular and treats itself as its own nation,” but rather “PR is insular and treats itself as its own nation because it is ostracized from the U.S.” Or you forgot the third. PR is insular and treats itself as its own nation AND it is ostracized from the US. Both things can be true. PR has a unique culture that is very different from the mainland. And its also treated differently by law; its a territory and not a state. Honestly, the people of PR cannot tell you if they want to be a state or a nation, just look at the referendums. Especially because A) we don’t need a passport (or any of the other complications that come with international travel) to visit there and B) its a beautiful place with wonderful people, great food, and amazing things to do

I saw a meteor shower on a beach at night, kayaked through biolumenescent water, and visited a fortress that looked right out of a movie Vieques is the Grupo Bronco Tesoros de Colección Vol 4 album 2013 T-Shirt in other words I will buy this most beautiful place I’ve ever been. So many awesome beaches, great food, and the best biobays in the world. Took me about 2 days to not need GPS to navigate that tiny island. As a tourist, your exposure was likely very limited, but longer-term residents would have so much damage from the pollutants and toxins from half a century of weapons testing and training on Vieques i remember having a patient tell me they lived there (we were in texas, i thought they lived in texas). i asked “you live there!?” like, that’s cool, i thought you lived in texas. he got really offended and yelled “what? you think it’s an island of savages? we have kmart!” this was like five years ago and it still makes me laugh There are also stories of people from New Mexico being mistaken for foreigners when they present their driver’s licenses out of state lmao The District of Columbia changed their licenses to say “Washington, DC” because when they just said “The District of Columbia” people in other parts of the country thought they were licenses from Colombia. I’m from New Mexico and when I moved out to North Carolina people would sometimes compliment my English or ask me how I was enjoying the U.S. Btw I am white as snow.
