Why would you do that? Doesn’t matter how true or not it is, say what’s gonna get you the Grumpy my mind still thinks I’m 25 my body thinks my mind is an idiot shirt Apart from…,I will love this job without outright lying. Stay on their good side. If you want the job just tell them what they want to hear. Don’t make up lies but adjust your answer to what they’re looking for. It’s cool you’re being honest but play the game to get the job My standard response is something along the lines of “I’m really good at what I do, and it pays really well.” This tells them that it’s about the money, but my skills are worth it. Then probably give some BS about wanting to be challenged. I’m not crazy about those types of interview questions either, but when I interview people I ask them why they are interested in the job. It would be off-putting if someone flat-out said “for the money”, since we are trying to learn why they are interested in our specific position rather than one in another organization or in another field.

Maybe say instead something like “I am searching for a role where I can meet my full potential”? I’m also all about financial transparency but if it’s not working, might need to try a different approach lot of comments here about “interview questions are designed to allow the interviewer to see how you answer under pressure, etc, etc”……and my opinion about the “why do you want to work here” question is that its designed to see how best you can BS and how convincing you can be
