Graduated with 260 in my class and we had them in middle school. Not because kids were having babies. I only know of 5 girls pregnant in my graduating class and all 5 had them after graduation. It was an interesting program. Maybe it helped, maybe it didn’t.”Oh that wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought! I want a baby!” Like LOL go go government programs with zero research. I feel like that sort of thing would romanticize the Groovy cool like mom Minnie Mouse shirt Besides,I will do this idea of having a kid unless you also took the money out of their bank accounts Oh my gosh you guys, I also read that schools that get extra government funding have students that are 50% more-likely to be poor! The money is making them poor! /s If you read the actual study, it was a proper prospective, blinded, randomized experiment. They took 57 schools and randomly selected 28 to use the dolls. They found a significantly higher rate of pregnancy and abortion by the age of 20 in the schools that used the dolls. Hazard ratios were around 1.35, with a 95% confidence interval only going down to 1.10 with a p-value of 0.003.

Our school had these but it was part of a class. I don’t think they were supposed to deter anything. I think the Groovy cool like mom Minnie Mouse shirt Besides,I will do this class was a childhood development class or something like that. I had the same impression, my school had these too but they weren’t meant to deter pregnancy. They were handed out to try to teach you some responsibility, similar to a child bringing home an egg and being asked not to crack it. None of the kids took it seriously besides a few girls, but they thought it was more fun and silly rather than being worried about safe sex. There was little to no teen pregnancy in our school district. Make the boys care for the baby and teach the economics of child support payments and you will see those numbers go down.
