We pay our cleaner £16/hour in London zone 2. We provide all cleaning products etc. This is a regular job for her- 2 hours/week every week! We often have her clean while we are away too- not every week we are away but at least one. £15 per hour, we provide the Grinch Hug Heart Arsenal Love Christmas Shirt also I will do this products and continue to pay them when they take holiday / are sick (including still paying them during Covid lockdowns). Maybe I have different view but my cleaner is a relationship I value, not a bare bones tit-for-tat transaction. They’re in my house 6 hours a month doing a dirty job so I don’t have to do it. I pay £40 a hour and wouldn’t even consider less. Your different view is that you have an unrealistic understanding of money value due to living an almost certainly wealthy lifestyle. £40 an hour to clean is absurd.

Value is very subjective, so if for the Grinch Hug Heart Arsenal Love Christmas Shirt also I will do this previous commenter its worth 40/h then it must be worth 40/h for them. There is no set price to a certain service, especially if it cheaper for you to outsource it rather than do it yourself. While personally I don’t get paid close to that much, the cleaner only works around 2-3 hours per home and still has to travel likely unpaid to multiple homes. Maybe the extra amount is to include travel time. At least the London Living Wage, unless you want to be a greedy Scrooge. The London Living Wage is currently £13.15 per hour. If you’re a really stingy cnut you could argue that if you pay your cleaner cash in hand, and your cleaner is not paying taxes, then you could offer less than the London Living Wage. But that depends on much of a cnut you are. On the other hand if your cleaner is really good, and you don’t want to lose them, you might want to go higher than the London Living Wage.
