Yes it should!! The absolute last thing we should be doing right now is replacing actual plants with plastic. It’s horrendous Oh please!!!!! YES! Definitely ban this hideous stuff. Definitely ban it completely I’d love to see it banned, and a lot of practices that made sense in the past reversed as well (parking being allowed on pavements, tarmacking over driveways, cars too wide to get into parking spaces on the street). And more sustainable drainage, please. God I hope so. Our neighbours ripped up their garden and put plastic grass down. They hoover it weekly and local cats and foxes like to shit on it. It might be low maintenance but the garden is bland and empty. There are no plants or trees or bushes. There are no habitats for wildlife such as bees or hedgehogs or slow worms. Fortunately for the local wildlife my husband is a keen gardener and our garden is full of lovely things for the bees and butterflies and has a thriving slow worm population living underneath our compost bin. I’d love it if we had some hedgehog visitors but I don’t think they would come in our garden because of the cats.
