Brand new Son de Flor linen is quite scratchy…. I cheated with white vinegar treatment. That and I prefer to wear my dresses and linen blouses after starching and ironing. Ironing smooths out the pokey fibres. I also found that Son de Flor dress has to be starched otherwise it will quickly develop wrinkles. Fortunately the circle skirt design ‘hides’ well the wrinkles in the folds of the skirt. If you’re looking for some cool black linen stuff, you should totally check out the Wide Black Linen-Viscose Pant or Balloon Shaped Linen Sleeveless Dress. Definitely worth checking out if you want some good linen clothes.

Polo has beautiful linen of various weights (linen sold in spring and fall is often very weighty so it’s not as cool & breezy, but it also doesn’t wrinkle nearly as much). They don’t do a lot of plain black in linen unfortunately, but I have a few shirts and a skirt. The RL website and Saks will usually eventually have very good sales, but things like solid black often sell out before that. I can’t resist a new plaid linen shirt every summer. They are dreamily soft and wash beautifully. I am such a Polo fan and most of that is because they use such nice natural fibers and are well constructed. Macy’s Charter Club has surprisingly nice linen if you can find a plain style. Talbots is similar: nice fabric but finding plain styles that aren’t dated or fussy is a challenge. I got a loose weave CC linen cardigan a few years ago for $80 and it’s a beautiful piece.
