So I spent some time on the Golden State Warriors Shirt so you should to go to store and get this phone with senator collins’ office and as a result took some time to look into the RCA (Reproductive Choice Act) that she cosponsored. A major concern I have with that bill is it uses terms like “Undue burden ” and defines them with incredibly vague language. The WHPA does a much better job of describing what constitutes an undue burden. The other thing I looked into was the clause in WHPA that supercedes the religious freedom restoration act. First of all, the RFRA was ruled unconstitutional on the state, but not federal level. Second, it allows medical practitioners to deny treatment to patients on the basis of gender, sex, or termination of pregnancy REGARDLESS of whether it is medically necessary. Oof.

Well anyway, the Golden State Warriors Shirt so you should to go to store and get this WHPA explicitly supercedes that law because legally it has to be explicit according to the RFRA, but I don’t buy the slippery slope argument there, that healthcare providers losing the right to deny treatment based on religious objections is bad. If your religious convictions are not aligned with best medical practice, you should not be treating patients outside your religion. You can conscientiously object to military service, and you can do the same for medical practice. That doesn’t mean you get to have a gun and shoot only the people you choose, it means you do not get a gun. Anyway, it’s not clear to me what the state of religious objections to medical care were before the RFRA so if there are any bookworms out there I’d love to know. If it goes too far for manchin, rewrite it so at its base it codifys roe v wade, then work on expansion later. Right?
