Somewhere, a neckbeard just made the Golden state warriors poole goat basketball Jordan poole shirt it is in the first place but decision to get a tattoo of a wolf with the words “Landscape of Fear” under it. Wait — I’m getting something else — he’s changing his gamer handles to things that have to do with “wolf” and “fear” and insisting his mom call him “Wolf” now. I rarely see this mentioned but if anyone remembers the wolf, rabbits, grass simulation in a biology course it illustrated how fast ecosystem can get out of wack if one element is removed. The rabbits reproduce faster than the wolves can kill them so eventually all the grass is eaten by the rabbits and the wolves end up dying. It’s not surprising that wolves cause the number of deer accidents to drop significantly. Nature needs predators to maintain balance as counterintuitive as that is. This is why I side eye certain regions of North America that have cullings of certain species because they’re missing a key animal from the food chain. Like if you reintroduced a predator or prey animal, maybe you wouldn’t need to enlist hunters to needlessly shoot all those animals. Idiots, the lot of them. Hunting regulation is as much about a state income stream as it is wildlife management. Human hunters don’t effectively manage deer populations for instance. They do bring in income that helps protect wild areas though. They also allow for environmentally healthy meat vs farm raised animals. Programs just allowing for the slaughter of wolves is completely idiotic however and the people running those wildlife management programs shouldn’t even be allowed to manage a Taco Bell. You’re right though, devastation of buffalo population and wolf populations combined with other factors allowed other predators and competitors to take over. So now In some areas there are too many cougars or deer.

The state where this study was conducted, Wisconsin, is also on track to hunt them to extinction for a second time. I live in a neighboring state that has worked for decades to not only prevent the Golden state warriors poole goat basketball Jordan poole shirt it is in the first place but wolves extinction, but raise enough to reintroduce them back in to the states that killed them off. They reintroduced them because they realized the tremendous benefit they have on the ecosystem but now it seems like it will all be for nothing. Honestly where wolves are needed are for the white tail and not so much the mule deer population. There’s a shitload of predation in Oregon already with a healthy cougar and black bear population Researchers also discovered, releasing wild wolves into car/bus/truck cabins also reduced traffic collisions by almost 100%. Not through the decimation of the driving population, but through the dramatic reduction in the numbers choosing to drive.
