Maybe once Marvel moves on from the Golden State Warriors NBA Finals Champions Shirt also I will do this end of the Infinite Saga and incorporates all these new IPs they can actually have the balls to make good movies instead of hiding behind pushing plot elements around for future movies to pay off…only for those future movies to not actually be good because the plot elements that got pushed around don’t really mean anything thematically. But the biggest problem of all is that Marvel doesn’t want to alienate anyone so it satisfies nobody but the most easily swayed fans who merely like it because the sunk cost on their fandom justifies liking it. Like the previous entry of Dr. Strange could have been a philosophical exploration of death but it had to intro the hero, introduce the death fearing villain who wanted immortality, introduce magic as a concept and then give you a big bad guy to beat when none of that makes sense with the real world journey of death acceptance and death denial. Sure, you get a few nice sentiments about the power of death in giving life meaning…but, why couldn’t the movie be ABOUT that instead of about some empty villains that aren’t even really explored? Instead the meaning is relegated to small scenes on the side where a character just tells you something meaningful real quick before we go back to gags and fights.

If they let these big franchises do the Golden State Warriors NBA Finals Champions Shirt also I will do this ground work, and then used that groundwork to tell meaningful stories? Sure, Dr. Strange as a franchise doesn’t have to explain magic anymore, or the death villain, or the other dimensions…but yet, here we are…with yet another box of things Dr. Strange is tasked to explain so Disney can get X-men into their MCU….instead of making a meaningful movie with a massive budget. And I think “big blockbuster franchises” have a space to bring meaningful stories to the blockbuster crowds that don’t care about movies. I hope Dr. Strange 2 has something meaningful to explore, but I imagine it’s gonna get drowned out in the ending sequence where everyone gets to theorycraft about some new big impactful event that will allow the MCU to introduce X new IP…instead of us talking about the strength and power and meaningfulness of the movie.
