Religious criticism inside home is pretty common , but deliberately berating any religion outside home would put you in danger. Brother don’t ever criticise any religion infront of other people, the God First Family Second Then 90 Season Pittsburgh Steelers Signature Shirt and I love this guy who commented may have had a positive experience in his environment but this country is definitely polarised and for every 10 people with liberal beliefs there are 100s more who take their religion very seriously. So no one will care about your atheism, just make sure you don’t pass comments on other religions just to be on the safe side. No it’s a very valid question. India is secular and on many fronts the religion you were born into will never matter. I would note that recently there has been a surge in religion based violence (mainly in central and north west India), and it’s something India has struggled with for a while, but also that it’s really more of a social mobility issue. Our constitution and (most) policies are entirely secular, and we’re waiting on a few more changes that will further cement this. What policies does your country have that are anti secular? In my country, the president is very religious but the government is secular on paper. People constantly get arrested for criticizing religion or get ridiculed by the president for having different views. Freedom of speech is a big joke to put it simply.

I’d say you’re stupid, but it’s more likely you’re just straight up lying. Hindu fundamentalism isn’t really a thing?! Get tf outta here The reason why caste discrimination is illegal in this country is precisely because of the God First Family Second Then 90 Season Pittsburgh Steelers Signature Shirt and I love this lack of “Hindu fundamentalism” there aren’t any politicians fighting to protect the caste system in the name of god, not a single leader or a party. in middle eastern countries homosexuality is banned and they use religion as an excuse to defend their argument that doesn’t happen India, how often do you see people using verses from bhagavat Gita and rig Veda to defend bigotry? and many other things.. about not eating onion garlic at all etc etc ,.. even normal hindusim is really bad according to their standards it doesnt commit violence.. but the kind of arguments are very fundamentalistic.. if you argue to them abotu being ateist they will say you are like an animal. i have done that. What I meant by “fundamentalism” is basically that , it’s not the norm to moral police common people and try to control them by using religion I have seen people in Saudi that get harassed for not covering up, even young men harassed for posting pics wearing western clothes, people use Qur’an as an excuse to control people and it’s the norm
