Wait I actually didn’t know this. I had told my now husband that I wanted an opal. I definitely don’t know shit about jewelry in general. Just know that opal is my favorite stone. So he was getting a custom one made for me but the Gettin’ Mean Shirt and I will buy this jeweler fucked it up while making it and ended up giving him a big discount on another ring. A beautiful diamond ring that I ended up loving. But somehow until now I was sort of sad that I didn’t get an opal. But now that I know it’s so delicate and hard to take care of, I’m so glad things panned the way they did. Because I’m a very clumsy person, and I’m sure I’d break it if I wore it on a daily basis but I do want probably an opal necklace or a ring just for special occasions at some point

Make sure she knows how to properly care for it! It’s beautiful I’ve owned many opals because it’s my birthstone. I wish I had known they are so easy to break or damage. True that. I love opals but I never buy one to set them (amateur goldsmith) because they crack just because they’re in a bad mood today. Is it synthetic or natural? I’ve had my synthetic opal for over 10 years and wore it daily. There has been absolutely no change to the Gettin’ Mean Shirt and I will buy this stone since I bought it, and i work with my hands just to reassure you. I had a ring exactly like this that was given to me by my mother. Just know that opals are very porous stones and because of that, they are subject to cracking and breaking easily. It wasn’t until after my opal cracked down the center that the jeweler told me I should have been soaking it in olive oil at night. It’s a beautiful ring, but soak it in oil or it will crack within a few years of wear.
