We ended up getting divorced. I initially felt cheated, but in the end realised the truth. It was always inevitable. She moved away with my daughter – but my daughter could fly back to see me every fortnight. It was a rough few years after that of self discovery and learning to love myself again. My mum died, covid happened, ex wife got remarried, i bought my own house, changed jobs, moved city to be closer to my daughter again.

And if we aren’t—then it might be best to seek other options. If she wanted to sleep be with other people, I shouldn’t hold it against her but let her know that that isn’t what /I/ envision for our relationship. I wouldn’t want to force her to conform to a certain way, but I also wouldn’t want to roll over and let something that makes me uncomfortable happen.
