OP, the Gary Moore Tribute Shirt Also,I will get this problem isn’t that he couldn’t cook. It’s that he didn’t help in any way, shape or form and expected to be waited on hand and foot while crapping up your house. Also he weaponized that incompetence. He probably deliberately made a huge mess then acted like he was “exhausted” counting on you to a) never ask him for help on anything again and b) convincing you he absolutely cannot do what even an 8-year-old can do. Nope. This is a grown adult. I’m wondering how he even holds a job. Does he even work? Because it sure sounds like a lot of his time was spent at your place just bummign around. If he hadn’t cooked, but had done everything else like show up with groceries, helped clean and had been considerate of your time and energy then I’m sure you would not have broken up with him. Don’t let him run the narrative that it’s “just because I don’t cook” that you broke with him. Tell people it’s that he expected to be waited on hand and foot, wasn’t contributing anything and demanded more care and energy than your own kids, and taking time away from them by being so useless and lazy he may as well have not been there at all.

FS I’m not a great cook and my husband can’t dust to save his life, but we both still try and do fine with it. And each other. And we work together by each doing the household chores the other one can’t. This one sounds more useless than a cat. They at least catch mice, keep the kids entertained and are fun to have around. Ugh, keep him gone. I’ve had conversations with some men who say they can’t bake and I can’t figure out if it’s just some silly thing they’ve adhered to, unmasculine, or they really can’t bake… but they can figure out how to set up their gaming system or use obscure software…even fix large machinery…. but can’t measure ingredients out, mix it, dump it into a container and pop it into the oven. it’s 2022 and I expect a partner to be able to assemble toast. literally, eggs benedict is toast and if the sauce is already premade, the hardest part is already over. dude could’ve boiled the eggs or even microwave them and OP would’ve been content. E: OK badly worded. I meant this isn’t a question of him not being able to cook, it’s that he seems totally lazy and useless to a worrying degree, causing more work for you. Unable to heat up leftovers? My 4 year old can heat up leftovers.
