If that isn’t covered by tips, the employer must pay the difference. So if you’re paid $2/hour, and minimum wage is $10/hour, the first $8/hour isn’t really a tip – it’s a subsidy for the employer. It’s money that, if you hadn’t paid, the business owner would have to pay instead. Exactly tip wage should be done away with I made $4/hr when minimum wage was $7.55(I think) Anyways, there were literally multiple times I made less than $3.55 bc no one came in… You are lucky to cover your down time with the rest of your tips and everyone looks at you like you make extra money…. I was just approved for food stamps after working for my company for 7 years full time. Inflation finally outpaced my income so hard that I could get $20 a month in food stamps despite being a single white male with no children. Honestly, there should be fines imposed on employers who don’t pay their full-time employees enough to live above the Gaming Halloween Vampire Scary Gamer Horror Movie T-Shirt moreover I will buy this poverty line, or in this case, make enough to not even have to consider government assistance.
