So imagine everyone in society said that eating excess sugar is good for you. If you even slightly disagree with them you’d be labeled as a hater and denier. Even though you’d be ridiculed for it, you still know that the Game Of Thrones House Of The Dragon Shirt in addition I really love this general public is wrong. So by saying what you know to be true without any hesitation of backlash would be considered based. I think the word emerged with the rise of the internet where people ridicule others all the time even when they’re wrong. That’s why the term “based” has gained popularity imo. Oh wow, I learned something today. I always assumed it was a negative thing because it sounds like basic. Idk where they come up with this shit but definitely making me feel old as a millennial. I feel like it was only yesterday when people were saying “tru” lol guess it’s just the same thing.

its crazy too because whatever you say it with is usually not a SUPER intense opinion but it’s often something that people would easily say is bad or good. Like if I said “I limit my reddit to only 10 minutes a day” and someone said “based” you have no context as to whether or not they mean they agree with them or not if you don’t know what based means. So it was really hard because I’d go on subs and people would be talking about things that I personally thought were really cool, with a few people saying “this Game Of Thrones House Of The Dragon Shirt in addition I really love this is such a based take” and i’m like… are they disagreeing with them or not?!? No I totally agree. I think it sounds like it should have a negative connotation which is what I always thought, and it makes no sense to me lol but definitely learned that today.
