tell everyone to back the Funny just a woman who loves to sew gnome T-Shirt and by the same token and fuck off and get back to reality. do no entertain the dreams you will only encourage more of it. i eventually refused to go to any more showings or respond to listings that were so crazy. in our case, yes, on paper we could afford the upper range. but the whole point of the move was for quality of life changes and raise a family. after years of going though all that, we actually bought a house for $300k. after all the moving was done, we own it outright. she spends her money on renovating the shit out of it however she wants. she just bought a new. she’s considering leaving her job so she can stay at home with our kid. now she gets it. none of that was ever an option at $800k even though everyone kept saying “we can afford it”. you say “I’ve mentioned our budget” … does your wife participate in this budget? Are you creating a budget and then telling her what it is? I know, I know… my ex had no understanding of money or budgeting and didn’t want anything to do with it, but at least when I said “This is our budget” he listened to me.

Every time she sends you a house outside your budget, you should plug the Funny just a woman who loves to sew gnome T-Shirt and by the same token and cost into the spreadsheet and show her what else you have to give up to get that. Get used to it. You’ll be made to feel less and less adequate through your marriage. I’ve been stuck for 35 years. So, in your target area, pull-up houses sold in the last 6 to 12 months. Compare the listed prices vs. the selling price – i love a spreadsheet for this. In my area, they typically sell for 20% less than the listed prices. So if I want a house for 400k, I look for a maximum price of 500k and never fall in love with a house before I have purchased it. Should have set a budget cap $200K lower than the true cap. In all honesty, buying a house never falls within your budget cap. It always goes over. Our budget last time was $500K and ended up buying a house for $650K. If your dti ratio is good you could afford a few hundred thousand over the budget God I feel you, we were looking for a house, hard cap at 250k and my parents kept sending us 300k+ houses. I asked them why and my dad’s response was “It’s good to struggle a little bit at first” … Yeah 250k is us struggling that’s why it’s a HARD cap. My wife and I are moving back home near my family so we could have support when we eventually have our own family. Man, you should never expect to be getting help like that from anyone. Did you not focus on what parenting during a global pandemic was like?
