If it’s crowded, I stand put wherever I am, and don’t ask anyone to give me their seat. If it’s not crowded, I make a beeline to the ladies coach. With so many people using the Bangalore metro line after the purple line was fully functional, this post was bound to happen. I’ve only travelled by metro twice, so pardon if this is very obvious, but how do you find the ladies coach? Is it right upfront? When I did travel I just got in the door that opened in front of me, and this was pre-covid so idk how much things have changed since. But pro tip for both men and women- The back is always the least crowded and the best coach to be and the middle is the worst In the scenario you mentioned, its not only the front coach but back coach will only be less occupied.. This is all due to laziness of people to move their feet once they are on platform. So people just reach platform through stairs/ elevators/ escalators and stand their itself. Hence the end coaches will be less occupied. And about women putting their bags and reserving the seats… Please dont generalize them with all the women.. As I women I am also embarrassed by them. Not only in metro they do that in buses also. Those are some cracked souls ready to fight to any extent.

I mentioned just one observation where the seats in ladies coach were empty and the women seating in the coach seating next to it. And it seemed like they were travelling alone. They could have moved to the ladies coach so that men who were helplessly standing could have occupied those seats. Last coaches are empty is another story altogether. And it’s not because of the laziness but due to the middle coaches located near the stairs/escalators, so people hurry up to board the coaches. Also the main problem is you cant even politely ask women to move to ladies coach, they will argue and spoil our whole day peace. May be they also come under crack head ones. You can certainly ask on behalf of a senior citizen. And I won’t shy away from asking as it is the right thing to do. I don’t have any problem standing myself.
