Also it just doesn’t compute with me people saying they don’t like the Funny 2024 MHSAA Competitive Cheer Championships shirt also I will do this noise; it’s a ratchet, it’s one of the world’s most satisfying noises, it’s bloody ASMR to me. One cannot pick up a ratchet spanner for example and not twirl it around on their finger to hear the clicks. I went from driving an electronic handbrake for 5 years to a manual handbrake, I forgot to put it on 3 times before it sunk in, luckily I never fully got out the car, but I did almost break my ankle. Definitely don’t want to become one of those people that runs themselves over lol. I did like the electronic whir as the handbrake applied on the electronic though, obviously doesn’t compare with a ratchet. I was taught to push the button, then bought a car with an electronic handbrake. Now I own a car with a manual handbrake and the noise drives me mad after 15 years of not listening to it

I was also taught to use the Funny 2024 MHSAA Competitive Cheer Championships shirt also I will do this button. This justification wasn’t given, but I now suspect it was the real reason! I don’t think you wear the brake by doing it, but just yanking on it without pressing the button seems so uncivilised. This is false, it is metal on metal contact and realistically would not cause damage to the handbrake, not within its life time. It’s a ratchet – it’s like saying a ratchet spanner wears out when you make it ratchet, therefore you should take it off and spin it manually. Obviously, that’s nonsensical. The ratchet exists for a reason. You say that, but I had a 1960 Morris Mini Minor that wore its handbrake ratchet out, and it would jump off. It does happen, but only in the most extreme of cases. The other reason why people say you shouldn’t do it is over-stretching the handbrake cable by yanking the handbrake hard continuously, requiring adjustment and replacement sooner.
