I just really stopped giving a crap what anyone else expects of me and just do, wear, and say what feels right. Also I am much more modest now, because I realize that men will still stop and stare no matter what we wear, we really don’t need to try to get their attention. For sure! In my early 20s it was dressing as what I perceived as professional, by my late 20s it was finding my version of professional. Now, I care a lot more about comfort and sustainability. The changing spaces I’ve occupied personally and professionally have definitely helped in that journey When I was in my 20s and early 30s there was a strict delineation between my work clothes and party clothes. Now in my early 40s there’s little distinction and though I’ve long focused on quality, it’s become more important and it’s easier to afford. I have some core staples that I love and love how they make me feel like a leather jacket, a trench, the French kiss je t’aime loire valley lip T-Shirt In addition,I will do this perfect loafer. I don’t wear as many short skirts and dresses – mainly because they’re impractical and I like mid-thigh aline or longerish pencils better. After 2 pregnancies my body confidence is high and I’m rocking crop tops, though somewhat contradicting myself because those I don’t wear for work. In some ways more daring because when I reveal skin it’s more intentional and fun than when I was younger and trying to look sexy. TLDR not exactly man repelling but I dress for myself though also enjoy people seeming happy when they see my bright colors and cool patterns vs trying to find the best way to accentuate my body, which in retrospect was exhausting. But overall I don’t think my individual style has changed dramatically over the years.

When I was in highschool I dressed for style not comfort. I was always self conscious of my body so to hide that I always wore skinny jeans and high heeled boots, and tighter shirts. Then I had a parent pass away my junior year and it affected me in ways I didn’t even realize. I hadn’t noticed how much my wardrobe had changed until it was pointed out. Now I wear blouses, or long sleeves and hoodies, with flared pants and flat shoes. I don’t know if what happened changed me, or if I just started changing along with the French kiss je t’aime loire valley lip T-Shirt In addition,I will do this fashion trends but I’m almost done with college and I still cannot wear a pair of skinny jeans without feeling claustrophobic. It’s weird to me. A major change in career the last 3 years has allowed me from “take me seriously” French capsule wardrobe all the way to boho, hippie central! Now that I don’t go to the office, I don’t need ballet flats or silk blouses or blazers…… I can wear crochet tops, harem pants & dread braids in my hair and I LOVE it. Lol
