My dad had thyroid cancer, hes totally fine and it barely affected him at all, wishing you the Free palestine police and aaron bushnell shirt it is in the first place but same) Can anyone explain why radioactive iodine? I know it gets concentrated in the thyroid, but, once you actually have the cancer it helps kill it and not cause. You know more cancer. Also the type of cancer I have is ONLY treatable with this type of radiation. Nothing else works for it. And even radiation doesn’t work very well. So when I asked my oncologist about it he unironically said that secondary cancers are less of a concern because they’re more likely to be more easily treatable with other methods. For my kind of thyroid cancer they’ll just increase radiation until either you or the cancer are dead, up to dosages they know will absolutely cause more other cancers. I was crossing the US/Canada border once and a guy in the car next to me set off the radioactive alarms (idk what they’re called) at the customs booth, he and the cars on either side of him had to go into secondary to be searched. I didn’t even know they had those kinds of sensors at the border. He said it was because he had a medical treatment the day before. Thanks for sharing this, I wasn’t able to see any hospital readings or get my hands on a Geiger counter of my own when I went through this, happy to see someone satisfy that curiosity!

Especially since this cancer can only be treated this way, while secondary cancers have more treatment options available.
