I drive a 22 year old Honda Accord every day, and would buy an EV from them in a heartbeat. Quality products for sure. This is exciting to me. Honda is great at manufacturing the Flash – King Of The Impossible T-Shirt but in fact I love this mechanical side of the vehicle, and Sony has always been the pinnacle of electronics. The way I weigh my opinion of automakers in electric drive is to look at their history in electronics. If Ford can’t make a simple HVAC control, Fiat/Chrysler’s dumper fire that is called Uconnect, and Chevy’s junk dash cluster, why would I trust them with even more sophisticated electronics for propulsion and safety. Honestly the Volt was a seriously impressive piece of engineering. I’d expect GM’s EVs to be pretty good, even if their interiors are awful. Let’s hope they do a better job than Mazda. One thing the traditional car makers seem to not understand is VALUE a model 3 isn’t the best of everything it’s just good, and affordable. The Mazda EV costs more, has lower range and is slower. Why the fuck would I want that? Then there’s Audi over the top interior and still can’t catch a model S, but still costs way more. It’s lien they want to fail and move on to the next thing…

Car companies are usually super slow at the Flash – King Of The Impossible T-Shirt but in fact I love this software side of things. (Of course due to dafety and stability reasons…?) I am a Tesla owner. If any of the major manufacturers come out with something that is a true Model 3 performance competitor at a even remotely similar price, I’ll dump mine. The car has constant problems. In 4500 miles of ownership it’s been to the dealership a half dozen times. Rear usb ports don’t work. Driver seat squeaks. Have to take it in to have a garage door opener added (at $300 bucks, because that’s now an add on when it used to be standard), the stereo fades in and out when you are streaming, and now I have an intermittent warning about the passenger airbag/restraint system needing service. In the first 2 trips to the dealership they damaged 2 of the wheels. One was so damaged they had to replace the tire as well as the wheel. The second one they told me “tough shit, we didn’t do that. Good luck”.There is no loaner. They give you uber credits that expire that day, which you can’t use to tip.The car is quick, it’s fairly fun to drive, and being able to heat it up from my phone, or roll the windows up remotely is neat, but at 60k, it is a true bummer to have service be such a mess, especially when it’s an unreliable vehicle.
