That inauguration also leads to the First Thanks-Giving as a Dad T-Shirt in other words I will buy this fraying  relationship between Stephanie and Melania. As the friendship becomes more of a working relationship, the scales begin to fall from Stephanie’s eyes. She becomes irritated that Melania doesn’t properly thank Ralph Lauren and his design team for the powder-blue outfit that they custom-designed for Inauguration Day, that she stiffs Herve Leger, the designer of her inaugural gown, before finally paying a fraction of what his normal design and styling costs would have been, and that the words “thank you” do not seem to be a part of her vocabulary.

Wolkoff becomes increasingly resentful, and a little concerned, that her title, White House clearance status and even her salary never seem to be confirmed by a written contract. Finally, as questions begin to mount about the First Thanks-Giving as a Dad T-Shirt in other words I will buy this money spent on the inauguration, things come to a head, and Wolkoff writes Melania a long, late-night email, in which she says she “willingly opened my heart, sacrificed my relationships, my companies”  to the first lady but that she faced “intense hostility everywhere” and that “they have completely stripped me of my dignity.” She ends by writing “You are my best friend, and this isn’t what I ever wanted. I am so dedicated to you, always and forever.”
