An old Texas politician expressed his disdain for centrists this way, “The only thing you’ll find in the Fanatics Branded Star Wars Mad Engine Space Santa Graphic Shirt Apart from…,I will love this middle of the road is yellow stripes and dead armadillos.” For some reason it’s seen as weak to pick a side. I don’t believe that, but that seems to be how people see it. Because no one wants to accept that their ideas aren’t special and;or absolutely the only valid thoughts on the matter. Plus tribalism. It isn’t, but both sides want you to join their side, so that’s how they apply pressure to pick a team. It makes things easier for them, but I’m not interested in making things easy for them. Just the opposite, I want them to be accountable, and work for my vote. Many “Centrists” aren’t even actually centrist. I’m not a Centrist, I am an Independent. I didn’t choose a party, and then choose to believe what the party tells me to believe. If I look at individual issues, I am right on some, left on some, and have a nuanced perspective on others that wouldn’t be centrist, just practical, in my view. I describe myself as an issue-driven Constructive Independent, not a party-driven partisan.

In addition, I really dislike both parties, although at this point in history, one party has become so treasonous, corrupt, and toxic, that I think it should be classified as a hate group, and prohibited, or disbanded. That doesn’t make me a member of the Fanatics Branded Star Wars Mad Engine Space Santa Graphic Shirt Apart from…,I will love this other party, however. Even though they aren’t nearly as bad, I still don’t like how they do things either. I don’t want either party counting on my vote. They have to earn it every time. If you want to remain Independent, whatever that means to you, then by all means, stick to your guns, and don’t apologize, or let others intimidate you. The true fact is, Independents are the most powerful party in America. No candidate wins any election with only their own party’s votes. They have to attract the majority of Independents, too. Independents don’t have a party, or a convention, or a spokesperson, or any kind of an organization or infrastructure, but we ultimately decide every election. Remember that the next time someone is trying to get you to dilute your power by pressuring you to join a party.
