They just want more money. They’ll embezzle it, they’ll waste it, but mostly they just want bigger budgets for more pay and more overtime and more cruisers . They’ll use every mass shooting to push for those things, knowing that even doubling the size of the PD wouldn’t make a difference in mass shootings. What are they expecting? A Minority Report style police force? It was a drive-by… not much that tools/resources could have done to prevent it. SWAT teams are already using the Boston dynamics robot dogs, handheld drones etc, they have MRAPS and armored cars, assault rifles more commonly distributed within a police force. I don’t know what they’re missing besides specialized training for community outreach/mental health calls Police funding seems to always go up. It’s crazy what percentage of most municipal budgets goes just to policing. Every time anything happens, the answer is to throw more money at police, but they never seem to ask why doing that doesn’t actually lead to prevention.
