That’s abuse. I mean I hated ham as a kid and was required to eat most of it but was never given a ridiculous portion of it and was never berated or beaten over it. If you see that happening, say something. It’s not meant to help them. It’s a control issue. My mother was never like this. I could eat as much or as little as I wanted. If I really didn’t like what we were having I could make a sandwich or something myself. I have the Evgeni Malkin Signature Russian professional ice hockey centre Pittsburgh Offset T-Shirt Besides,I will do this same rules for my kids. No yelling, no hitting, no belittling, no force feeding. It’s not my body. They get to decide how much and of what they will be eating It’s a bad habit that gets all the attention. I assure you there is a great many families who apply the rule correctly, and it’s simply “make” the kid clean their plate to avoid pickiness and maintain good health. When the educational part is applied correctly and more importantly (lol) humanely, it really works. Serve a kid an appropriate amount of food for their age and weight. Pay attention to what they refuse, why, and how hard they refuse it in order to make the minute adjustments required for an individual child. Then, introduce new foods in a gradual manner, and in small amounts until they get used to it – at which time you can make it a part of the normal rotation.

There’s always a more complex (and more correct) interpretation behind these things. Unfortunately, for some people, it devolves into a simple demand that you clean your plate, and a lack of knowledge over how much to feed a child. I remember feeling sick as a kid and told my dad while we were at the Evgeni Malkin Signature Russian professional ice hockey centre Pittsburgh Offset T-Shirt Besides,I will do this table. He made me sit there until I finished my food, then I puked on my plate. Disordered eating and eating disorders have been normalised in a lot of households since every major famine ever. Lot of it comes from trauma I’ve noticed. Families that lived through war, famine, natural disasters and other life changing experiences are gonna make damn sure their whole family is never gonna experience hunger again (just one aspect) I literally just save food until I’m hungry. I’m very picky, but if I’m actually hungry, I’ll eat. But if I’m not gonna eat the dinner now, but imma cover the plate with foil, stick it on the fridge, and save it for when I’m hungry.
