I have a professional qualification and hold a great job but my MIL always used to ask me if I can cook this or that knowing full well I could only cook basic things when I got married. Haha. Thanks but I dont live with them any more. I live abroad and I am an excellent cook and host, while being fully employed with kids. I am not confrontational by nature so for my peace of mind I ignore these things and am low contact when I do talk to her I am respectful. she too is a bit wary of making stupid comments, because I dont call at all for longer period of times. Also things have calmed since I ve been married for so long. But if they value me only to cook, oh I am never gonna cook at their home. I have also decided not to spend my hard earned money on buying her anything.
