I remember there was a big to-do for those of us up by Canada re: the Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge 1991 Grunge Throwback T-Shirt But I will love this super pig invasion. In general, wild swine can fuck you up. Your time is valuable. Hunting and butchering an animal takes time and effort, and it’s usually cheaper for most people to go to the store. Idk about you, but to me pork is a mediocre meat to begin with and I doubt wild boar is any better. Probably worse. Hunting and butchering meat is hard and requires quite a bit of skill. Especially an animal like a hog which basically built like god wanted them to be nigh indestructible and very angry. Hogs are also not just wandering willy nilly all over the place where. You have to have an area that is both appropriate for hunting and accessible. The small ones taste good but as the boars mature they don’t taste very good unless they are turned into sausage. Wild hog is good but it’s not like pig. Hog is gamy, I tried it steam and dipped in pepper sauce. It was good but it was so sticky to my teeth. Also they attack on sight An intact male hog’s meat stinks of hormones. Some people don’t taste or smell it, but I can from a mile way due to growing up on a farm. Every once in awhile, I can even detect it in store-bought bacon, so the thought of trying to gag down the wild version is very unappealing tbh.

I grew up hunting hogs in South Florida. They are mean as hell! I’ve seen one rake a friend with their tusk and cut him from his ankle to knee straight to the Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge 1991 Grunge Throwback T-Shirt But I will love this bone with a flick of their head. Saw another that we thought was dead bite half of a guys hand off like nothing. They are not something to mess around with. They usually are living in inhospitable places (swamps, briar, palmetto, etc.) and not easy to get to. They are also large and smart. The biggest I’ve ever taken was 400+ lbs Russian Razorback. That being said, they are super fun to hunt, and really, the only “large animals in FL” beasides gators (deer are tiny, and I don’t hunt bears cause they’re cool). Because the time and energy required to hunt pigs for subsistence is too much compared to working a regular job and buying your pork from Smithfield (or going pig hunting for fun on the weekends)…..
