This comment section is depressing. Disposable culture is exemplified here. OP has repaired something and extended its life rather than throwing it away and getting a new one, this should be commended. In answer to the Ever After High Fangirl Shirt and I love this question, my parents taught me that you should always have a holiday booked. Even if it’s just a week off work to sit at home. It means that the monotony of life never sets in because you always have something to work towards and look forward to And also missing the point – it’s just an example of what their dad taught them. I wish more of the top comments were in the spirit of OP’s post. This is exactly what I was thinking!! I’m blown away that people are just like THROW IT AWAY even though it’s plastic & can clearly be repaired quite easily? I don’t have any outdoor furniture due to a small garden but I hope that if I ever do, & one breaks, that I’ll remember this post so I can fix it instead of it ending up on landfill before it should.

Problem is those piece of shit plastic chairs can’t be trusted even brand new, let alone after they start cracking up. Are they really? I saw one snap as a dude sat on it (not overweight or anything). Good camping gear isn’t cheap I’d trust a £15 camping chair over a £15 plastic lawn chair that gets left outside year round The plastic gets brittle. The difference is how you treat it though. Presumably you bring your camping chair inside when it’s not in use? If you did that with your plastic chairs, thus protecting them from constant rain and sun, they’d last perfectly well. Sure, we’ve all been there, watching that old plastic chair your did fished out of the Ever After High Fangirl Shirt and I love this corner of the garage collapsing under the weight of old fat auntie Doris is a rite of passage for British bbqs. We bought a patio set from Argos this year, the legs were wonky and the plastic weaving already unravelling. Took photos of it, then spent 10 minutes fixing by bending the legs and using a hot glue gun on the plastic. Complained to Argos and they refunded us 50% of the price. We got our set, didn’t have to fuck around with shipping or disposal, got money back, and it stayed out of landfill. Win win win. Absolutely agree! I am wondering how far people would take this. Like if a button fell of a shirt, is it acceptable to just throw the whole shirt away these days rather than mending it? It’s madness
