I’m in a constant calorie deficit due to emetophobia and ARFID, as well as not being a huge water drinker, so I figure there’s nothing that wrong with drinking a half gallon or so of whole milk a day. Maybe if I was getting fat or calories from food I’d be more willing to listen, but most of my intake is milk. My roommate, however, says that any normal person should tap out after two small glasses MAX. “16oz tops” he says as I type this. He also doesn’t drink much water. (He’s a gym bro who always has some sort of caffeine-loaded preworkout slurry in hand instead of a proper liquid.) What’s considered a “normal” or even “acceptable” amount of milk to drink in a day? Am I in the wrong? Is my roommate in the wrong? Both? Neither? Who’s more wrong here?I don’t drink milk. It does seem like a lot though but as long as your doctor doesn’t care then who cares. All I can say is with a son who is underweight they don’t want him drinking a lot of milk if any at all since it can fill someone up and then they won’t consume enough calories in other ways. Even when he was a toddler I was told milk wasn’t essential for a healthy diet. I would honestly ask your doctor and go from there. From what I’ve heard in the past few years is that cows milk isn’t as healthy as originally thought. Still nutritious yes but key normally seems to be moderation unless otherwise directed.
