Consider the Escape from your mind and your world T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this amendment’s opening phrase: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof …” followed by the stipulation that no state shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property,” without due legal process and equal protection. That opening paragraph specifically applies to women as a subset of all people who qualify as having been born — and it specifically does not apply to those who have not yet been born. They’re saying we’d need a constitutional amendment to enumerate the right to bodily autonomy and medical freedom. I believe we should wrap this all up under the catch all of a right to a common welfare to include these things. This would do a lot to catch us up to the rest of the world. The only countries to ever make abortion more restrictive are in Eastern Europe and Central America which are not associated with democracy or freedom at all.

That’s such a good point! I hope that becomes a joke among the Escape from your mind and your world T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this liberal judges. What does originalism even mean when it allows to change the meaning of words arbitrarily? In essence, he’s saying that embryos are persons born in the US, WTF!!!? I’ve been making this argument for years. Ironically, if they take this and interpret it as having jurisdiction and duty to secure the “rights” of unborn non-citizens over a living citizen, they are going to have a hell of a time making an argument that unborn children of immigrants aren’t deserving of the same constitutional protections and rights as naturalized citizens by virtue of this imaginary “jurisdiction” they are claiming. But this interpretation would contradict the Roe and subsequent Casey ruling itself, which allows states to limit abortions after viability of the fetus. According to this article’s interpretation of the 14th Amendment, there could be NO abortion restrictions whatsoever since the unborn fetus has no rights that could supersede that of a born woman. That doesn’t sit right with me even if I am pro-choice. It appears that the majority only seeks a literal interpretation of the Constitution when it suits conservative justices’ political or religious beliefs. But when the wording doesn’t suit them, they simply ignore it.
