I might be a little biased because all my friends from university moved to Ottawa after I graduated, but damn, every time I visit I have such a lit time. Vientiane, Laos. It’s so cute and quaint. Grab a bicycle and cruise around, grab a coffee and sandwich and just enjoy the pace of life.

Especially when compared to other capitals in South America. For example Buenos Aires, Argentina which is just a short ferry ride away.

Ljubljana, Slovenia was a small feel city. There are restaurants along the river that have outdoor seating but other than that it’s pretty quiet. Beautiful castle, small old-town. I was pleasantly surprised during my random trip there.
Edit: Also, we literally didn’t run into any Americans while we were there. Our taxi driver asked where we were from, I told him Los Angeles, and he said, “Are you lost?!” Haha. Not a lot of Americans is what we were told quite a few times. Ljubljana is beautiful.
