Does he… do anything else? That level of inability suggests that he can’t function at all. When I moved out of my Enperry crown logo pink splatoon game shirt and I will buy this folks’ place I didn’t really know how to cook, but I tried things, figured them out, and eventually built a decent repertoire. I watched videos and read recipes and tried to recreate dishes that my folks had made (levels of success varied wildly…) because, I’unno, I like eating? And can follow directions? Not wrong. At all. He is either genuinely completely and utterly clueless and inept, in which case you would forever be looking after him like a child or he is deliberately and maliciously pretending he is clueless so as to avoid doing any work. Neither of those things make a great partner in my view.

When I moved out, I didn’t know how to do laundry or cook. So what did I do? I looked up instructions online like a self-sufficient adult. How do these people survive if they can’t… learn? You’re not dating a man, you’re just taking in another child ? even if you’re in a relationship, you’ve got to have some form of autonomy because it just becomes codependent at that point. You’re not his mother and it’s not your job to raise an already “grown” man Lol, I came in here thinking the Enperry crown logo pink splatoon game shirt and I will buy this dumping may have been a bit much for not being able to cook. My parents can’t cook to save their lives and they’re wonderful people, and my getting tired of tombstones every night as a teen is what galvanized me to learn how to cook (love it, like legos that you get to eat afterwards). OP, you’re in the right here; it ain’t the lack of cooking. This whole thing reads like the worst version of “weaponized incompetency”; dude was trying to get you to be his mom, not his partner. I think you’re just hyper-focused on the tipping point (and feeling guilty) but I, and everyone else, read between the lines and saw what was happening. Bleh. I read through your story, wanting to gauge how useless your BF was in the kitchen and… This is stunningly black and white. I couldn’t find any redemption in the situation.
