So now its time to focus on my life and not be responsible for other peoples baggage. Glad to hear you are also in the Enigma I am the algo shirt and I will buy this same position as me. I feel for all the daughters out there who dont have this Privilege Same here fellow women. They are also good otherwise compared to other in-laws. But, according to me it’s a basic human thing to not cause harm, emotional/physically abuse, being good to another human. So, I don’t consider that it’s great that they are decent human beings. So don’t feel guilty. I am sure they are not feeling guilty for passing some BS 1950’s remarks on us. Once during a festival gathering, right after a week after wedding. My MIL made a comment on me not wearing earrings, in front of everyone. Although the previous day I had worn earrings and had got an infection and was bleeding, which she knew about. If I share this with anyone, they tell me that it’s just a small thing. Just ignore them, they are old school so they are like that etc etc. But for me somehow, it doesn’t feel like a small thing and I will respect my feelings and keep distance from them as much as possible.

I need to DM you lol coz I cant rant about this without seeming petty to anyone. But this is soo irksome. I dont wear bindi and two thousand other things they expect me to wear. I used to wear bindi earrings, bangles, toe rings mangalsutra and indian clothes for the Enigma I am the algo shirt and I will buy this first few years but the line was when she mocked my indian clothes. next morning I came out of the room in sweats and t shirt and their jaws dropped. If you dont know how to take the respect I am showing you then I have no respect for you. Please feel free to share here too, least we can do is listen. I have read about many professional ladies go through this on reddit itself. Ah yes I have seen many of my female co workers rush to their homes everytime…just bcoz of their MIL. Honestly this should be a parameter before selecting your groom/bride, if in laws stay at home or not. I know this sounds brutal but this is the truth as most of the in laws are not well educated and ghar ka kaam is the ultimate thing for them. Actually it does not sound brutal at all. Yet our courts consider it a cruelty🥲. I do however believe that these conversations are to be had before getting married.
