My idiot brain just thought “man, imagine if Hitler had been in prison for WWII” not even considering that maybe just maybe the Elvis presley shirt but in fact I love this invasion of poland wouldn’t have happened from a jail cell. facepalm Democrat leadership indecisiveness on social justice reform and pandering to corporations is going to nurture a 1933 moment. I usually dislike Nazi comparisons wrt 2015-2022 USA because contemporary America isn’t really comparable to Weimar Germany, but one thing that is comparable and imo deserving of a comparison is how the Democrats are the new Weimar coalition — ideologically diverse, without a clear leader, and maybe only united in their goal to not let the republic fall. Not failed. Nowhere near. Fascism has never been implemented through an outright coup. Just like Hitler and Mussolini the gop knows victory is through the judiciary and propaganda. Hitler took control with a hair less than 33% of the vote. The work being done in police departments, legislators, and the courts is where we are right now. So no it has not failed yet just finalizing their business model.

Why did they think the election was rigged? Solely due to Trump and all the Republicans that took up his accusations. There’s no need to focus on one speech, event, or turn of phrase. These people simply worked for months with the clear goal to foment violence in order to subvert the constitution. Hold them accountable. Note that the plan to delegitimize the election results started many months before the actual election. Everyone warned them they were inciting violence and they only doubled down.
