Yea exactly, this price gouging is affecting workers throughout the Eclectus Parrot Sorry Can’t Bye Parrot Red And Green T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this entire industry from loggers truck drivers to builders and of course just people like you and me who just want to do some improvements around the property. Building industry is in collapse, existing jobs falling over, and no new jobs coming in. Not surprising when I saw a post yesterday (not reddit) about a guy being quoted $7k/m² for what he described as a moderate spec new build house in chch. No new jobs coming in? I work for one of the bigger merchants and we’re busy as hell. Can’t keep on top of all the new plans coming in. Frame & truss suppliers are swamped with work, too. also in bldg industry working with all main timber merchants there may have been a slight slow down comapred to the craziness of Covid but industry still seems relativy busy IMO

Residential construction has fallen of a cliff, you guys are just still in the Eclectus Parrot Sorry Can’t Bye Parrot Red And Green T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this lag period. Numbers of new build Contracts are like 1/4 what they were this time last year. It’s enough to drive a recession on its own, we drastically need both build and land costs to reduce to balance the value proposition again. I’m in Christchurch and (residential) land development has taken a nose-dive. We have been low on work for months – up to the point now that the company is restructuring and I’ve been made redundant. No new jobs? Every single one of my tradies is swamped up to the ears in work and I’ve had to push back two projects because the none of the 5 carpenters I usually work with have any space in their schedule for the next 3 months.
