You can always pick up extra time on different routes if you’re willing. Once you’re full time, that makes $48/hour overtime. You can also choose if you wish to take a junk mail section or not (each route is divided into 3 parts, junk mail rotates through each part). Each section gets paid 1.75 hours. A non junk will take 1 hour on a light day. Junk takes full 1.75-2 hours. USPS has mandatory overtime from what I understand, which is good for extra pay, but can be terrible on the Duncan McGuire Bootleg shirt it is in the first place but super hot/freezing days (we get 34c in summer and down to -28c in winter). Which do you think is the worst out of the mail/package delivery companies? Canada Post, UPS, FedEx, or Purolator? No idea. I haven’t worked at the other companies. I do know that the fedex and purolator guys around here are sub contractors that drive company vehicles. No benefits or anything.

Judging by the Duncan McGuire Bootleg shirt it is in the first place but behaviour and action communication or lack thereof at all levels of the process when I had a package delivered recently, they must be horrible to work for and hire horrible people. Worked at the PO, I didn’t even make it past first 90 days. They really do put you to work. If you are in the HCOL area, it’s not worth it, and I’m in LCOL city. Seems it’s just another bad job now and not the entry to middle class like people say it used to be? I am not sure how it compares historically though. The only good thing that came out of it was that the experience helped me landed better jobs. Lots of state and fed agencies think highly of postal workers. Both. I was working 60 hours a week, only 1 day off a week and sometimes they call me in on my day off too. I lost 20lbs in the short time I worked there, so yeah. Also, the trucks don’t have AC. But if you want to get some highly regarded experience on your resume, go for it. It helped me got better jobs. Benefits, yes. Security until you turn career, but there are organizational shifts happening. If you show up to work on time, you’ve handled 50% of the problem. What part of SoCal are you in? They told me “Not a culture fit” – they can say that despite my skills, my personality was a no-go. Nothing can be said at that point. They did not say my age was an issue…. Kind of amusing that I’m not a fit for their company – yet as motorcycle instructor I have glowing reviews from hundreds of students and co-workers.
