The art of Dorodango Ninja is a fascinating and ancient Japanese technique that involves transforming ordinary mud into beautiful, polished spheres. These spheres, known as dorodango, are not mere playthings but rather a testament to the ingenuity and mastery of Japanese artisans.

The process of creating a Dorodango Ninja begins with gathering the finest clay, typically found in rice paddies or riverbeds. The clay is then painstakingly sifted and mixed with water to create a smooth, pliable paste. The paste is then shaped into rough spheres and left to dry in the sun.

Once the spheres are dry, the true artistry of Dorodango Ninja begins. The spheres are coated with a thin layer of dry charcoal powder, which absorbs moisture and provides a dark, matte finish. They are then polished repeatedly using a variety of materials, including dry leaves, rice husks, and even human hair.

The polishing process is a labor of love, often taking days or even weeks. The countless hours spent rubbing and polishing bring out the inherent beauty of the clay, giving the Dorodango Ninja its exquisite, mirror-like surface. The process is akin to a Zen ritual, requiring patience, focus, and a deep connection with nature.

In modern times, the art of Dorodango Ninja has experienced a resurgence in popularity.
