Of course any student of political history knows that everything he attributes to Marxism in this quote have been characteristic of authoritarian political regimes for nearly the Don’t Care What Day It Is Dr Pepper Est 1885 It’s Early I’m Grumpy I Want Dr Pepper Unisex T-Shirt moreover I will buy this entirety of recorded history. Hell he is pretty much describing to a T the late Roman Empire, that not only took pains to root out paganism, especially in what is now modern day Germany but also created serfdom via the edicts of the Emperor Diocletian. Far from being a creation of Marxists, these dynamics can be traced to the very heart of the cultural inheritance he claims to value so highly. This historical over-simplification is endemic in pretty much all of Peterson’s work. For starters, anyone who discusses “Western Civilization” as some sort or political or cultural monolith is not to be taken seriously, as any attempt to homogenize the Don’t Care What Day It Is Dr Pepper Est 1885 It’s Early I’m Grumpy I Want Dr Pepper Unisex T-Shirt moreover I will buy this political, economic and cultural development of Europe over-simplifies to the point of utter meaninglessness. This is illustrated via his discussions of leftism and Marxism, which are completely incoherent, as his attempts to position Marxism as some sort of ideological front of opposition to “The West” are nonsensical. Marx and Marxism are a product of “The West”, and the development of Marxist philosophy stems from very clear philosophical influences across Europe, from the German idealists like Hegel to the philosophes of the French Revolution. And his notion of “post-modern neo-Marxism” is just too absurd to take seriously even for an instant, which of course he asserts with no evidence has insidiously infiltrated everything from corporate board rooms to universities to the Chinese Communist Party. Here’s a tip, if your proposed ideological system has everyone from university professors to CEOs, to the CCP marching to the same drum: your theory is vague to the point of meaninglessness. Such a massive statement would require utterly monumental evidence, but of course Peterson never has any.
