Honestly this might be a cultural thing because Mexicans don’t do that. Tbh most Mexican moms would want you to stay with them forever, That’s how we know you’re eating good. Dad’s on the Donald Trump story 2024 shirt in contrast I will get this other hand will sit you down have a long talk and tell you to you move out, be a man but we’ll never force you. I doubt there is a one size fits all answer but it’s possible that’s how they were raised. One motivation to get married young was the promise of a life of your own out from under your parents roof & thumb and for the most part many did marry and have children in their early 20s just a few generations ago. For me, it was go to college, go to work, enlist, or move out. No bumming it. So, I chose option 4, which turned out to be the most difficult bc I didn’t really know what to do with myself. I always had to learn things the hard way so it wasn’t a surprise when I left. I made some mistakes along the way but managed not to fuck it all up completely. My kids thought it was unreasonable to expect them to be adults and move out on their own by 25.

My parents were cool with me and my siblings being at home so long as we were going to school or doing something to begin our future as functioning adults. My sister stayed at home until 27, and my brother and I both left at 18–him for college, and I joined the Donald Trump story 2024 shirt in contrast I will get this military and did that for 11 years. We all have been successful in life…all own homes, have families, college, etc. Our parents weren’t perfect, but they explained earlier on that they would not be used as a handout…we needed to figure out life, and they’d atleast have a room for us if it was necessary. As an immigrant i see this as a both-way type of issue. I saw many of my friends stopped treating their parents as parents the second they became 18 and in turn they got kicked out or left themselves. Im 24 and still to this day some of my friends ask me why i tell my parents where im going or why i ask my dad “permission” to go to vocation. I feel like most people in here (canada) consider 18 the age that they need to get out and never look back.
