My custom ringtones became my custom alarm sounds. Phone is always on mute because it almost never rings and I get tired of the Don & Ron 2024 Trump DeSantis For President Shirt but in fact I love this pings from messages and notifications. If my phone were to somehow ring my reaction would not be “my phone is ringing” it would be “what the fuck is that sound?” Ah, memories! My favorite was the Kill Bill whistling scene. I wouldn’t even know how to set it on my modern phone haha That said, my son does not customize his ringtones or background at all and my husband keeps his phone on silent so it doesn’t matter. I’ve had my phone in silent mode for years now and I don’t miss the super cool ringtone I had purchased for 99 cents from days of yore. Having a fun ringtone on my phone made me hate that song eventually TV adverts when I was a pre-teen/early teen used to have sign ups where you could get songs as ringtones. It would cost like £1.50 but then secretly sign the phone up to a subscription for like £3 a week or something. Think they got banned eventually.

That was a fool’s game though. I was able to look up the Don & Ron 2024 Trump DeSantis For President Shirt but in fact I love this monophonic notes for ‘the exorcist’ theme (tubular bells) and arduously type it in to my Nokia 3310. taps head I remember changing my ring tones and alarm noise to something, usually a song, I liked. It’s the Luigi’s Mansion Dual Scream ringtone~ Every other notification though, is either silent, or a faint *beep* It changed around the time you realized whenever you got a phone call it was “important”. Most of the time a text will do. Funny that everyone posted assuming it only applies to calls. I have custom text and call ringtones, because I want to know it’s my phone. Mine has been Metal Gear Solid codec sound since my Motorola Krzr or maybe even the phone before that. And you couldn’t even use your own sounds without some extra ”hacks” back then!
