Initial motivation: I was obese and very out of shape as a teenager. Bullied in school. I had no understanding of nutrition, calories, carbs, etc. Continued motivation: fear of being obese again one day, but as I get older (early 30s) I look at those who are my age and older who complain of feeling old, bad backs, and generally just look like shit because they’re not active. I plan to have kids soon and plan to be a very active parent! The same motivation that one has for eating, showering, pooping and brushing teeth. It’s just something that you have to do daily. I turned 40 this year and I haven’t gone a day in my adult life without being able to see abs so I must be doing something right. Honestly I look better than a majority of college kids nowadays and it’s great for my self-esteem. Why would I give this up? I work from home so the thought of spending time at home to relax feels off for me. I go to the gym really to get out of the house and shake up the rhythm. Though with time you build up good habits and I genuinely enjoy the space that is the gym and enjoy the progress and activeness to my day to day it brings.
