It’ll cover the gas, water and electricity, and if they complain portions are small you can encourage them to cook for everyone occasionally. It’ll get them in the habit of making food and they’re likely to spend to get some ingredients in of their own will. Also encourage them to bank another 200 for their rent deposit when they move out, so they get the habit of saving scratch. If you’re going to return it to them as savings and not use it for running costs, I’d go up to 400, since spending a quarter of your monthly on rent is about right! My mum doesn’t have a mortgage anymore, so it’s only really bills and food that I help with.

I do technically only live there for 3 weeks at a time, and then go spend a week at my boyfriend’s flat (LDR), and everyone knows I’m aggressively saving for a house.
