They are pretty bad when it comes to this stuff to be fair. Maybe not the Diabeetus I Got the Sugars Shirt also I will do this worst, but they’re basically the Disney of Japan. I wonder how much money they’ve spent on emulator legal proceedings and DMCAs over the years. Because I can guarantee they could 10x whatever that number is in profits instead if they’d just support their old games and consoles respectfully. It blows my mind that their response has always been to spend money on this problem in a way that offers them absolutely no return and negative PR at the same time. Why the hell does Nintendon’t even care that much? Or rather, why does their legal team care so much about this? If all you do is price gouge 20 year old games to be able to play them on an emulator or platform inferior to something like Dolphin, then why are you surprised people find alternatives? Their licensing regarding stuff is beyond absolutely insane. Same thing with the copyright stuff regarding their game soundtracks. I hope Dolphin wins because emulators are Legal unless they’re using Original Code from the console they’re emulating which Dolphin doesn’t. This is the only true valid point, Nintendo may not like it but they also do not own any code used within the dolphin emulator. The fact that you need roms to make it useful is besides the point.

We’re lucky we have someone like The Completionist, who saved all the games from the WiiU and 3DS eshops, otherwise so many games would be lost in the void. If Nintendo actually ported their stuff, or at least relaxed on roms and emulators, this wouldn’t be a problem.
