I studied CBSE and the Diabeetus Eat Your Damn Oatmeal Shirt and I love this only thing I learnt about Iqbal was that he wrote Sare Jahan se acha (something he himself stopped believing in a few yeas after he wrote it). Also I don’t know why you guys are giving this guy so much importance. I hardly remember reading anything about Savarkar in history textbooks (for those who want to bring Savarkar into the argument). And that is wrong. Books must include his atrocities as well. And both the good and ugly sides of Savarkar should be taught too. Why? You realise you don’t have to waste your time learning every little detail about everyone. Just teach about people who had a positive contribution to the freedom struggle in textbooks. There is the internet and libraries for everything else. Also, yeah we learn about Hitler. Because he is an extreme figure and an important cautionary tale for the whole world. Iqbal is nowhere close to that level of importance.
