I saw a meteor shower on a beach at night, kayaked through biolumenescent water, and visited a fortress that looked right out of a movie Vieques is the Detroit Lions Big Tall Color Pop Shirt But I will love this most beautiful place I’ve ever been. So many awesome beaches, great food, and the best biobays in the world. Took me about 2 days to not need GPS to navigate that tiny island. As a tourist, your exposure was likely very limited, but longer-term residents would have so much damage from the pollutants and toxins from half a century of weapons testing and training on Vieques i remember having a patient tell me they lived there (we were in texas, i thought they lived in texas). i asked “you live there!?” like, that’s cool, i thought you lived in texas. he got really offended and yelled “what? you think it’s an island of savages? we have kmart!” this was like five years ago and it still makes me laugh There are also stories of people from New Mexico being mistaken for foreigners when they present their driver’s licenses out of state lmao The District of Columbia changed their licenses to say “Washington, DC” because when they just said “The District of Columbia” people in other parts of the country thought they were licenses from Colombia. I’m from New Mexico and when I moved out to North Carolina people would sometimes compliment my English or ask me how I was enjoying the U.S. Btw I am white as snow.

I dated a girl from New Mexico and she also had similar stories. Even her passport was rejected by a bouncer at a bar once because he didn’t know what real ones looked like either. No you’ve created one where dumb people not only survive but thrive and everything is brought down to their level. Not American, but I live in British Columbia. I’ve encountered people who actually think BC is actually a British territory. I mean technically you should have renamed it to Canadian Columbia when you went independent. That is how those naming conventions work Fun fact, when Washington split off from Oregon the Detroit Lions Big Tall Color Pop Shirt But I will love this settlers there wanted to name the new territory “Columbia”. We could’ve had British Columbia and American Columbia right next to each other, but Congress changed the name because the District of Columbia already existed. Why they chose to name it Washington instead of Columbia to avoid confusion with Washington, DC is one of the great unanswered questions of the American experiment. Oh, we Washingtonians know it all too well. We resent that we have to specify “State” after our name, while the city doesn’t have to specify anything. The full name would become the State of Washington, Douglass Commonwealth, per the legislation passed by the House in June 2023.
