But I get that women have had bad experiences. Still a little off. Whether it’s age or just the values you grew up with, yes it is normal that some people are more like you (keeping distance from any opposite sex friends) and it is normal that some people are more like the friend’s fiance (no concern being friends with the opposite sex when it’s a friend of their partner). If you are close with his fiance, that is plenty reason to want to become friends with you IMO because you will probably end up hanging out in a group setting. If there’s nothing concerning in the texts, I wouldn’t think he is trying to do anything weird. You can either just keep showing your hubby to keep transparency as a safety net, or you can start ignoring texts/responding more slowly if you don’t feel comfortable. Personally I don’t see a reason not to chit chat when it is platonic stuff, but I would see why you would avoid personal/emotional topics. Also you guys work in the same field, I wonder if he could be getting to know you on a professional level for career advice and he’s just networking?

Its probably because she considers you such a close friend that she wants the fiance to get along with you. I imagine that texts is just for the fiance to establish a positive relationship. If the texts do turn werid though you should immediately let the friend know. EDIT: if you still cant shake the feeling that its werid, you can just loop the friend into the texts. Honestly if the messages are suppose to be friendly, there should be no issues of the friend being aware of the texts. Maybe it’s common for his age group but I admit I’d probably create a boundary for this kind of thing with him and make sure he understands it. You can do that without being confrontational. Or maybe just express to your friend that this makes you uncomfortable. Whichever you’re most comfortable with.
