In reference to some guy playing Donkey Kong Country 3, we created our own verb applicable to any skip or glitch: “blue monkey skip” Me as fuck when I used to Stream speedrunning ninja gaiden. Mostly would complain about RNG but luckily only like 3 people at a time would watch so not that much pressure. Lmao yeah I watch these gdq speedruns on games I’m currently playing or thinking of playing (did this with Metroid zero mission and remembered about a quarter of their tricks on certain parts) and it helps. Plus it’s fun to have some background noise when you’re working. Speedrunning should only count if you actually play the full game. None of this “LOLhack here to skip instantly to the last boss!” shit I actually like the glitchless skill based ones with cool strategies but as soon as glitches get involved and they start to teleport through air or me as a viewer can’t tell what’s going on … Yeah boring af and waste of time not worth watching . To call speedrunning “stupid” because you don’t like glitch runs is asinine. If you don’t like those, then don’t watch them?

I can throw my dinner in a blender and drink but that kind of defeats the purpose of dinner. Pretty good, don’t forget the obligatory cheating and splicing, feel like almost all speedrunners end up cheating because they “deserve” the run that RNG just won’t give them. I remember a Dark Souls 3 run I was slooking forward to whatch, where at some point the runner used a glitch that also glitched the camera on a satellite view, making the run unwatchable for a good part after that. Funny how I recognize the Lambda Compound from Half Life 1. Because there are no cutscenes in this game, but there are long stretches that can be sped up by bumping into people or finding hidden triggers.
