The seeds of the rivalry were sown in the early 1990s when DDP and Malone, two high-flying and charismatic wrestlers, joined forces to challenge the dominant Hollywood Blonds. However, the Blonds’ betrayal and the subsequent formation of the nWo (New World Order) shattered their alliance. Malone turned heel and aligned himself with Hollywood and a new partner, Rodzilla, creating an unstoppable force that sought to destroy DDP.

Unwilling to be defeated, DDP rallied a group of loyalists, including Raven and Chris Benoit, to form the Legion of Doom. The two teams engaged in a bitter feud that showcased their contrasting styles. Hollywood and Rodzilla relied on power and brutality, while DDP and the Legion of Doom emphasized speed, agility, and teamwork.

The rivalry culminated in a series of unforgettable matches. At Halloween Havoc 1997, DDP and Malone squared off against Hollywood and Rodzilla in a tag team street fight. The match was a chaotic and violent affair, culminating in DDP pinning Hollywood for the victory. At Starrcade 1997, the two teams faced off again in a steel cage match. This time, it was Hollywood and Rodzilla who emerged victorious, thanks to Rodzilla’s devastating power.
